Motherwell cash fury as fixtures unveiled

FURIOUS Motherwell claimed this week they stand to lose more than £100,000 after missing out on an Old Firm home game in the season's run-in.

The Scottish Premier League announced the post-split fixtures – and 'Well have only two of their remaining five games at Fir Park.

They face a third trip to Celtic Park this season and must also travel to Ibrox.

The only two home games – against Dundee United and Hibs – have been given late Sunday afternoon and Thursday evening slots.

Chief executive Leeann Dempster said: "We understand the SPL can't please everyone with every fixture decision, but the decision-making process has resulted in a deeply unfair outcome, both competively and financially."

'Well point out they would take in more than 100,000 from a home game against Rangers or Celtic and manager Craig Brown said: "That could be the difference between me getting or not getting a new player."

After losing 2-1 to Celtic on Tuesday, Brown's men face Dundee United at Fir Park on Sunday. Kick-off for the televised game is at 4.15pm.

'Well travel to face Hearts the following Saturday, visit Celtic on Saturday, May 1, then are at home to Hibs on Thursday, May 6, before ending the season at Rangers three days later.

It means they will have 20 away games and 18 at home this season. Brown said: "The players will play anywhere at any time, although you should have more chance of winning at home.

"We are not moaners, but the fans are getting a raw deal here."
