Bobby honoured after 40 years as top scout
THE 40-year career of Motherwell scout Bobby Jenks is to be recognised with a special testimonial dinner later this year.
Over the past four decades his efforts to earmark stars of the future have unearthed generation after generation of young players, including some who have become household names and added quality to senior teams across Scotland and England, such as James McFadden, Phil O'Donnell, Lee McCulloch and Neil Lennon.
His career has seen him work for 15 years with Motherwell FC and 15 years with the SFA, as well overseeing the development of countless young players at his nursery clubs Coatbridge YMCA, Nottingham Forest Boys' Club and Motherwell Boys' Club.
To mark his contribution over those four decades, a committee chaired by former Motherwell FC secretary Alan Dick will hold a testimonial dinner on Saturday, October 9.
The event, which will be held in the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Glasgow, will be hosted by sports journalist Peter Martin and will feature guest speakers Tam Cowan, Craig Brown and Jimmy Nicholl.
