VIEWPARK youngster Leo McCabe has gained a black belt in tae kwon-do.

The 12-year-old completed a two-hour test at the headquarters of the Tae Kwon-Do Association of Great Britain in Bristol.

Leo, who trains at Uddingston Tae Kwon-Do Club, passed the exam which included traditional, self defence and sparring techniques, as well as theory knowledge.

Instructor Kirsty Izat said: “Leo is our first ‘home grown’ black belt which makes me extremely proud.

“Leo joined our club on the night we opened and has hardly missed any classes since, which shows his dedication and determined attitude.

“His 1st Degree black belt is truly earned for the years he has trained to achieve it and thoroughly deserved because, for such a young age, his attitude is always fantastic.”

The club trains at Uddingston Sports Centre. For more information visit www.uddingstontagb.com.
