Juniors hope for change in the weather

JUNIOR sides Thorniewood United and Bellshill Athletic were both left on the sidelines on Saturday when the weather forced the cancellation of their games.

Thorniewood’s Super League First Division clash with league leaders Hurlford United at Robertson Park and Bellshill’s home Central League First Division game with Port Glasgow were called off due to the state of the respective pitches.

The clubs will be hoping the weather relents for this week’s games with Thorniewood travelling to face Glasgow Perthshire and Bellshill heading to Larkhall Thistle.

Thorniewood remain second bottom of the table, with numerous games in hand over the rest of the league, including Saturday’s opponents who are in mid-table but have played seven matches more than the Viewpark outfit.

The sides have already met this season, Thorniewood winning 2-1 at Robertson Park in September.

Bellshill will also be out to complete the double over their opponents, having defeated their Lanarkshire rivals 4-3 at home in November.

Both Saturday’s games will kick-off at 1.45pm and a Bellshill supporters’ bus will leave The Orb at 12.30.

Non-members will be welcome - for seats contact Alex Conner on 07729 378818.

There were no winners in last week’s Bellshill lottery. This week’s prize will again be £2,000.
