MOTHERWELL face growing pressure as they prepare to face St Johnstone at Fir Park on Saturday.

Stuart McCall’s men could find themselves no longer in that cherished third spot in the SPL by the time they kick off against the Perth outfit.

United closed the gap to three points when they beat Saints 2-0 last weekend while ’Well lost 3-0 at home to Celtic.

The Tannadice team are at home to Hearts at lunchtime this Saturday and victory would put them ahead of ’Well thanks to their superior goal difference.

Meanwhile, police investigating alleged betting irregularities have dropped their case against Motherwell midfielder Steve Jennings.

He was one of nine men arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to defraud over bets placed on a game between Motherwell and Hearts in 2010.

He had denied any wrongdoing.
