LANARKSHIRE businesses will be in good company and hoping to profit from a punt or two at Hamilton Park’s Chamber of Commerce Raceday on Thursday.
The annual meeting, held in association with Lanarkshire Chamber of Commerce, kicks off the racecourse’s busy June calendar which climaxes with the return of Saints & Sinners.
Local firms have a chance to network with like minded businesses, join the Chamber of Commerce’s lunch party, attend a drinks reception or simply entertain their own clients.
On the track there is plenty of action in the shape of a seven-race card worth £29,000 in prize-money including feature race The Weatherbys Bank Fillies Handicap Stakes.
Lanarkshire Chamber of Commerce president Maurice Logie said: “Our annual raceday at Hamilton Park is a date in the diary everyone at the Chamber looks forward to.
“It is a perfect opportunity for the local business community to gather in a relaxed setting, meet new people, share ideas and, of course, enjoy an afternoon of racing.
“Lanarkshire Chamber is continuing to grow and part of our future vision is to have a number of business focused events, mixed with a vibrant social calendar.
“As an integral part of this programme it’s great to have such a great asset as Hamilton Park Racecourse in Lanarkshire and we wish them well as they look forward to another summer of big meetings and events.”
The Lanarkshire Chamber of Commerce Raceday is swiftly followed by Euro 2012 Night (June 13), McGhee’s Teaz Raceday (June 20) and Saints & Sinners Night (June 28).
Vivien Kyles, chief executive of Hamilton Park Racecourse, said: “Our Chamber Raceday is always very popular and as someone running a business in the area I always find it insightful to meet people in charge of other organisations and hear both their successes and their challenges.
“It is a cracking start to our June calendar which offers plenty of variety with themes of business, football and catering running through the first three fixtures.
“Then we welcome the return of Saints & Sinners Night at the end of the month which we have been counting down the days to since we secured the right to host it again last year – we can’t wait.”
Gates open at Thursday’s Lanarkshire Chamber of Commerce Raceday at noon with first race at 2pm.
