MOTHERWELL made it three away wins in a row as goals from Michael Higdon and Chris Humphrey secured a 2-1 win at Tannadice.

This was sweet revenge for ’Well following Dundee United victory at Fir Park earlier in the month.

Despite goalscoring problems at home, ’Well have had no problem finding the net on the road and aimed to put United down early in this one.

In the first minute the away side forced a corner which Tom Hateley sent in and Shaun Hutchinson headed just wide, but the opener wasn’t long in coming.

On seven minutes when Humphrey’s delivery found HIGDON and he controlled before slotting the ball past Radoslaw Cierzniak for his 10th goal of the season.

Just three minutes later it was 2-0 later as Henrik Ojamaa have the ball to HUMPHREY and he crashed a right foot shot into the top corner.

The visitors sensed blood and continued to press, as Hateley fired over and before Ojamaa found the side-netting.

It wasn’t all one way traffic as Darren Randolph tipped former ’Well man Chris Gunning’s powerful free-kick over the bar and then the home fans were screaming for a penalty as Hateley appeared to foul Stuart Armstong in the box, but referee Bobby Madden wasn’t interested.

However, on 37 minutes the hosts did pull one back as JON DALY was found by Sean Dillon’s and he slammed the ball into the net.

Just before half-time Cierzniak denied Higdon from doubling his and on the other side of the break Randolph proved equal to John Rankin,

Unnited haven’t won at home since August and were desperate to take something from the game.

However, Daly failed to make contact with Johnny Russell’s dangerous cross before Rudi Skacel, making his first start, was unable to find the net from 10 yards out.

As the clock ticked down Skacel did have the fall in the net, but his joy at rescuing a point was shortlived as an offside flag ensured ’Well held on for the three points.
