Motherwell kickboxer Gary McLeary competes for the super heavyweight British and Commonwealth title at Cleland Miners’ on Saturday night.
McLeary (26), who trains at Rivals Gym in Newmains under the tutelage of former kickboxing world champion Jan Cree and ex-pro boxer Charlie Parvin, won the newly created Scottish title at the same venue back in September.
He faces South Shields’ Jamie Moore over 10 two minute rounds, who he lost to in his first professional bout, but believes the result will be different this time.
McLeary said: “It was a fight that should never have happened, but at the time I was desperate to just get a fight and Jamie’s name came up.
“I go in with great confidence this time as I’m in much better shape and have more experience under my belt so I believe I can win.”
Doors open at 6.30pm and tickets costing £20 are available from the venue.
