Stuart Carswell is confident Motherwell can still progress in the Europa League despite being held by Stjarnan at Fir Park last week.
The second qualifying round tie sits at 2-2 ahead of the second leg in Iceland tomorrow (Thursday) after ’Well blew a two goal lead.
Carswell said: “We showed at the start we can score goals, but take nothing away from them they switched their game plan after we took the lead and starting pressing us.
“They showed they were capable of getting in behind us, teams have caught us on the break here before and we were aware of that, but as the game went on we started to tire.
“They have played around 12 competitive games and that was our first so of course they were going to have better match fitness, but for the second leg we’ll all feel the benefit of a hard 90 minutes under our belts.
“We’re a confident bunch so I don’t see why we can’t go over there and get a few goals, in order to progress.”
Carswell missed the final eight games of last season after knee surgery so was delighted to be back in action.
He said: “That was my first 90 minutes since the operation which was a bonus for me, and the knee is feeling good so hopefully it stays like that.”
Carswell has never scored for ’Well and blazed over a great chance to make it 3-0 against Stjarnan, however refuses to let his lack of goals get to him.
He said: “It was a bit of a lash so I’ll have to have a look at it and see what went wrong, but I’m not going to get too downhearted about it.”
If ’Well progress they’ll face either Lech Poznan or Nomme Kalju.
