Motherwell made it a Highland double as they followed up their win over Inverness by taking all three points from Ross County on Saturday.

’Well boss Stuart McCall stuck with the same side who had beaten Caley Thistle for the visit of their northern neighbours.

After a less than inspiring opening spell the first chance of the match fell to James McFadde, but he failed to direct his header on target after being found unmarked by Lionel Ainsworth.

At the other end a huge kick-off by former ’Well’keeper Mark Brown skidded off the top of Stephen McManus’s head, but the onrushing Jordan Slew could only thump his shot into the advertising hoardings.

McFadden then missed another two good chances, first brown got a hand to his deft flick after John Sutton’s kick down.

Then Stevie Hammell found McFadden with the goal gaping at the back post, but the forward needed too many touches to control and brown got across his line to save.

However, just two minutes into the second half ’Well did take the lead as Brown found an Iain Vigurs shot too hot to handle and McFADDEN popped in the rebound.

Brown was being kept busy and after a long driving run by Shaun Hutchinson the ball was laid off to Vigurs, but his powerful shot was beaten away.

McFadden was replaced by youngster Craig Moore and on the hour mark the subtitute had a hand in ’Well’s second goal.

His shot from the edge of the box swerved horribly and Brown did well to keep it out, but the rebound fell kindly for SUTTON who scored via the underside of the bar.

County finally woke up and Richie Brittain burst past McManus to shoot against the balance of Gunnar Nielsen, but the ball came back off the post.

However, eight minutes from time they did score and it came from ’Well’s recently developed achilles heel as they failed to depend properly at a corner.

Graham Carey played the ball in and Yann Songo’o smacked it into the net.

The visitors had their tails up and Slew and Songo’o both had further chances, but ’Well held firm.
