New boss looks on as ’Well held

Motherwell lost a late, late equaliser to Ross County on Saturday as new boss Ian Baraclough looked on from the stands.

It looked like ’Well were heading for all three points after goals from John Sutton and Henrik Ojamaa cancelled out Tony Dingwall’s opener.

However, Dingwall struck again three minutes into injury time to earn County a point that took them off the bottom of the table.

Perhaps buoyed that Stuart McCall’s replacement had finally been appointed the home side started on the front foot as Sutton came close with a diving header from Ojamaa’s cross.

In response Martin Woods shot wide and Dan Twardzik was called into action by Yoann Arquin.

An Iain Vigurs corner was met on the volley by Sutton, but the ball crashed into a wall of bodies and then when David Ferguson found Sutton from a Vigurs free kick his turn and shot was tame.

Right on half-time County took the lead as ’Well failed to deal with a Jamie Reckford cross, Twardzik denied DINGWALL’S first effort, but he scored at the second attempt.

At half-time Lionel Ainsworth replaced Vigurs and he would help haul ’Well back into the game.

Before that though, former ’Well captain Paul Quinn missed a sitter to put County two up after the rebound from a Jake Jervis shot landed at his feet eight yards out, but could only balloon the ball over.

On 53 minutes the home side equalised as Ainsworth found SUTTON unmarked at the back post and he nodded in his first goal in nearly three months.

Sutton would then spend the rest of the game with a large bandage around his head after clashing heads with team mate Josh Law as he wheeled away to celebrate.

Six minutes later OJAMAA robbed Jackson Irvine and drove forward, sending a low shot beyond Antonio Reguero.

Ojamaa then robbed Arquin and got away an early shot that was just wide.

’Well survived conceding an equaliser as Keith Lasley miscontrolled in the box and Michael Gardyne hit the post.

However, they weren’t so lucky in the 93rd minute as Joe Cardle passed to DINGWALL at the edge of the box and he found the bottom corner.
