Holytown Colts Youth Club will host its third annual football tournament next month.

The event will take place at the Keir Hardie Centre on Saturday and Sunday, June 13 and 14, with more teams than ever before taking part including, for the first time, a girls’ section.

Teams from all over the country will be taking part and club secretary Scott Sleith said demand for places was such that some teams had to be turned down.

He said: “It’s looking as if it will be the most successful festival. We haven’t even had to invite a lot of the teams, they have been contacting us.

“The girls’ section is one of the big things for us this year. We have recently started our own girls’ section and the teams who are taking part are high profile ones.

“But it’s just about the football. We will have other activities happening because we want to engage with the local community and make it a family day out.”

Wristbands will be on sale for £5 giving unlimited access to inflatables.

On day one there will be a Jack in the Box, Star Castle, Air Juggler, Rainbow Slide and craft stalls while activities on day two will include star castle, ball pit, Titanic slide, army assault and craft stalls.

Adults will have the chance to chill out to some tunes and let the youngsters have some fun. And there will also be collection of items for donation to Motherwell and Wishaw Foodbank.
