Bellshill Athletic face a crunch promotion clash on Saturday when they travel to Lesmahagow for a battle of the Central League First Division’s top two.

Athletic’s lead at the top of the table was cut to four points when they lost at Dunipace on Saturday while Lesmahagow beat Benburb 5-2.

Lesmahaghow also have two games in hand and with just two sides going up at the end of the season Saturday’s match could have a vital bearing on the outcome.

The sides have already met once this season, Bellshill winning 1-0 at Fullarton Park in November thanks to a dramatic Andy Selkirk winner in stoppage time.

Meanwhile Thorniewood take a break from their relegation battle this week when they face Central First Division side Larkhall Thistle at Robertson Park in a Euroscot Engineering Central League Cup second round tie.

Thorniewood’s hopes of beating the drop from the Super League Firsst Division suffered a blow on Saturday when they went down 1-0 at home to relegation rivals Ardeer Thistle.

The Viewpark side got to the semi-finals of the competition last season before going down to Clydebank.

Both Saturday’s games kick-off at 2pm.
