After weeks of speculation it was finally confirmed on Friday that James McFadden will be a Motherwell player next season.
Despite offers from elsewhere, McFadden decided his future for the next 12 months lies at the club where he started his career.
And while most were impressed by his form during the latter half of last season he promised that ’Well fans will now see what he can really produce.
McFadden, who will wear number seven, said: “I spoke to the manager before we went to Spain and made my mind up we would get something sorted when we came back.
There were a few reasons for my decision, but I enjoyed my time here last season and being here makes my family situation easier.
“Under normal circumstances maybe I wouldn’t be here, but I‘ve a great affinity for the club and the fans, and the people here are all great.
“I spoke to a few different clubs, but nothing made me feel it was worth moving away again. It’s a big factor for me that I’m at home and my kids are at home.
“It’s only natural that after finishing second and third in the SPL and playing in the Champions League the fans are used to success, but there is always scope to improve and we have to go into this season with the aim of finishing second, as well as winning a cup.
“I would like to think people will see a better James McFadden this season. Last season went well, but I don’t think I played to anything like the standard I can.
“Hopefully with a good pre-season and a longer run of games people will get to see the best of me.”
