Bellshill on point of beating drop

BELLSHILL Athletic face St Anthony’s in their final league game of the season at Fullarton Park next Monday needing just a draw to ensure they avoid a third successive relegation.

Just a few weeks ago Athletic looked doomed to finish in the bottom three of the Central League First Division table.

But a revival which has seen them win three and draw one of their last four games has pushed them up to ninth in the table.

Vale of Clyde and Vale of Leven are already confirmed as going down, leaving just one relegation place to be decided - and with St Anthony’s behind Bellshill on goal difference a draw in what is the last match for both sides would leave Athletic safe.

Kick-off at Tollcross is 7.15pm.

There were no winners in last week’s Bellshill Athletic lottery. This week’s prize will be £2,000.

Meanwhile Thorniewood are still waiting for a date for their final match of the season at home to Scottish Cup finalists Shotts.

The Viewpark side are currently fourth in the Super League First Division table, and although they are likely to finish further down with the sides below them still having a number of matches to play, they have comfortably achieved their main aim of staying up following last season’s promotion.
