Motherwell boxer Steve Banks will make his professional debut in Glasgow on Monday.
Light middleweight Banks (24), a Scottish silver medallist, from Keir Hardie ABC, will step into the ring with Ryan Clark who, despite being three years younger, already has 34 fights under his belt albeit only one win.
Banks said: “I had fought everyone in my weight division at amateur and felt the time was right to take the next step.
“Despite his record Ryan is a tough fighter and I’ll have to give it everything and take advantage of any opportunity that presents itself.
“The fighting is a lot closer and you need better fitness to cope with the longer rounds, but I’m coping fine and feel ready.
His manager Tommy Gilmour said: “Steve has been around professionals like Charlie King and Morrison, and has Barry Clarke in his corner, so will be well aware of what is required and that should stand him in good stead.” Full story in April 14 edition of Times & Speaker
