James McFadden looks likely to rejoin Motherwell after getting on the plane for the club’s Spanish training camp on Monday.
McFadden was one of a number of trialists who have joined the squad for the four day trip to Alicante and has been seen wearing the number seven kit vacated by Chris Humphrey.
One new face who will definitely be at ’Well next season is goalkeeper Gunnar Nielsen who like John Sutton and Fraser Kerr before him is returning for a second spell at Fir Park.
The Faroe Isles number one was on loan in 2008 from Blackburn Rovers, but didn’t play any games.
Nielsen (26) who also spent time at Manchester City and made his Premiership debut in 2010 against Arsenal, spent last season at Silkeborg in Denmark.
He said: “I’m delighted to be back and having been at some big clubs where it was hard to get a game, I can’t wait to get playing again.
“I know Motherwell well from my six months here before and I know it’s a great club to be at.
“I’m really pleased to get this sorted and am looking to establish myself as number one and do really well.
“We finished second last season and if we can do that again it would be a great achievement.”
’Well will head to Yorkshire on Saturday following their return from Spain as they open their pre-season at Doncaster Rovers.
This will be followed by the visit of Newcastle United to Fir Park on Tuesday, a trip to Morecame on July 20 and then hosting Nottingham Forest on July 26.
