Ex-Stockport boss is surprise choice for Fir Park hot seat

NEW Motherwell boss Jim Gannon says he didn't go looking for the job but the chance to manage in the SPL was too much to resist.
The 40-year-old former Stockport manager was unveiled along with assistant Peter Ward on Tuesday, July 2, just two days before the Europa League qualifying defeat against Llanelli.

With David Clarkson moving to Bristol City for a reported £800,000 this week and Paul Quinn set to join Cardiff for £700,000, the new boss finds himself with a first team squad of just 11 players with youngsters making up the numbers.

He said: "The squad is depleted in experience and quality and we will need to bring in players to be competitive in the SPL."
