Police patrols are being stepped up in the new housing developments at Ravenscraig following an increase in reports of youth disorder.

Officers are responding to concerns raised by residents regarding teens congregating on areas of empty land around the estates.

One fed up resident, who asked not to be named, told the Times that large groups of youths hellbent on causing bother were plaguing their estate.

She said: “When I look out my living room window, I can see them all standing on a bit of waste land where they set fires, drink and smoke.

“They make a mess, try to steal bins to set on fire, run in front of cars and throw things at cars.

“I know what it’s like being a teenager, but these kids are so disrespectful.
