Pupils from St Brendan’s Primary spent a fin-tastic afternoon at a special fish workshop in Asda Motherwell.

The children were there to celebrate Good Friday, also known as Fish Friday, and to help them feel more comfortable with fish.

The masterclass also taught the children about all the health benefits and importance of a balanced diet that seafood brings to the table.

Asda Motherwell fishmonger Mary Currie led the masterclass, teaching the children how to prepare a fish and explaining their day-to-day role at the store’s popular fish counter.

Bernadette Hart, community champion at Asda Motherwell, said: “Fresh fish is a very important part of a balanced diet and our fish counter is always really popular with our customers.

“We loved having the children from St Brendan’s Primary at the store. They had a fantastic afternoon learning all about fresh fish with our fishmonger, she even showed the children how to prepare a fish properly, and how the different types of fish can be eaten.

“Hopefully they’ll be adding fish to their dinner plates in the future!”
