A fashion show with a difference took place on Friday night when Crosshill Parish Church staged a “Wedding Through the Years” event.

The bridal parade and exhibition of memorabilia and christening robes was organised by the church craft club.

Over 60 wedding outfits had been donated and were modelled by members and friends of the congregation.

On parade were traditional and modern style wedding dresses, bridesmaid dresses and flower girls along with outfits worn by the mothers of the brides/grooms.

The oldest dress on show was one which had been worn by the grandmother of one of the oldest members of the church, Helen Johnstone.

Her grandmother had been married in the Barony Church in Glasgow in 1869 – 145 years ago and the outfit consisted of a brown fitted jacket and skirt with a white cotton underskirt edged with lace.

There were outfits from every decade from the 1940s to the present year.

Escorting the brides down the aisle were four ‘grooms’ who entered into the fun of the evening with good grace.

The audience were welcomed by church minister the Rev Gavin Black and compere was Graeme Sheridan.
