Craigneuk Lifelong Learning Association has recently run a ‘Mental Health First Aid’ course for members of the local community.

The course was delivered over eight weeks to give people a deeper understanding of mental health and to dispel some of the myths surrounding it.

Louise Healy, project development worker, said: “Unfortunately, the statistics of people suffering from mental health issues in this area are high.

“Sadly on too many occasions this leads to either attempted suicides or completed suicides.

“Our aim by running workshops and courses like this is that it will raise awareness of how to identify the signs that someone could be suffering in silence and what steps to take to confidently help that person.”

To register for the Mental Health First Aid course, or for further information on other courses being run, call Louise on 01698 373401 or visit the unit at 641A Glasgow Road on week days.
