A car driver who died following a collision with a lorry on the B7066 Glasgow/Edinburgh Road near Newhouse on Tuesday has been named as Jamie Duncan from Wishaw.

Emergency services attended the scene just before 3pm and Jamie (29) was taken to Wishaw General Hospital, but couldn’t be saved.

His 23-year-old passenger remains in a serious condition.

Dozens of people have been paying tribute on Facebook.

Kirsty Clark said: “Terrible news, RIP Jamie. Thinking of all your family and friends.

Samantha Higgins said: “Rest in peace Jamie tragic news, what a lovely guy! Thoughts with your family at this sad time.”

Andy Sim said: “For only being a young guy you made sure you had an amazing life. You done more in 29 years than most people will do in a life time.”

Divisional Road Policing Unit in Motherwell is appealing for information via 101.
