Bellshill MP Tom Clarke this week backed a new road safety campaign aimed at urging road users to look out for each other and help save lives.
The MP, whose constituency also takes in Coatbridge and Chryston, has pledged his support for the nationwide drive which was launched by the Brake charity to coincide with National Road Safety Week.
The road safety charity is calling on road users to look out for each other to help stop the five deaths and 61 serious injuries that happen every day on UK roads, and particularly to protect people on foot and bike.
They want everyone, especially drivers, to show patience, consideration and responsibility towards other road users, especially the most vulnerable.
Mr Clarke said: “I think this is an excellent campaign not least because I have received many representations from my constituents about this very important issue.
“I think it is very appropriate that there should be a local input into this UK Campaign.”
The call comes at the start of Road Safety Week, coordinated by Brake, during which thousands of schools, employers and community groups will be raising awareness about road safety.
