Tom Davidson raised more than £6,750 in aid of Prostate Scotland after completing a sponsored walk along the Fife Coastal Path, taking five days to cover the 85 miles.
The Provincial Grand Master of Freemasons in Lanarkshire Middle Ward had asked lodges for their support and brethren accepted the challenge to organise special events to support the two charities in focus this year – the other was Breast Cancer Scotland.
Tom said: “The overall appeal has been very well supported by lodges and brethren and has realised more than £15,200 which will be shared equally between the two charities.
“My thanks go to everyone for their support.
“A variety of events took place including collections, sponsored walks, 10k runs, hill climbs, sportsman’s dinners, social afternoons and auctions.”
Support for this central appeal has not diminished the efforts of lodges throughout the Province for other non-masonic charities.
Tom added: “One lodge raised £17,000 in a special effort for Yorkhill Children’s Foundation and charities supported by lodges included St Andrew’s Hospice and Lanarkshire Cancer Care.
“The lodges of the province have done exceptionally well this year and I am very proud of their efforts.”
