A BELLSHILL grandad is celebrating after scooping £10,000 in the People’s Postcode Lottery.
George Gillespie (78) couldn’t believe his luck when his postcode - ML4 3DQ - was drawn on Saturday.
George, who lives with wife Sheena on Cross Orchard Way, said: “I am bowled over. It is great, what a lovely surprise.
“We have been thinking about moving as we currently live in a flat, and we would love a bungalow with a garden.
“Our son and daughter stay locally, as do our grandchildren, so we want to stay nearby.”
As a charity lottery, players of the People’s Postcode Lottery have raised more than £17.6 million for good causes across Scotland, with the Orbiston Neighbourhood Centre recently receiving a £1,800 donation.
The money was used to provide uniforms for volunteers and cover the cost of training.
Judie McCourt, People’s Postcode Lottery ambassador, visited Bellshill to present George with his cheque.
She said: “It is so important for our players to see local charities benefiting by their playing of People’s Postcode Lottery.
“The Orbiston Neighbourhood Centre offers vital support for the local community, but it wouldn’t be possible without the help of the volunteers.
“A huge thank you to the players of People’s Postcode Lottery in the North Lanarkshire area!”
