Selected pupils in first and second year at Taylor recently enjoyed the opportunity to take part in a Soundminds workshop provided by Reeltime Music, Newarthill.

This was just one of a number of focused activities as part of Taylor’s Positive Mental Health Week.

Soundminds is an innovative project where young people are empowered to promote positive mental attitudes in other young people and challenge the stigmas attached towards mental ill-health.

Reeltime Music support a youth steering group who organise music events throughout Lanarkshire with the aim of promoting positive mental health messages to other young people in a creative and cool way.

The workshop involved Reeltime Music staff and tutors working with pupils over a two-hour period, allowing the young people the chance to express their opinions and feelings on mental health messages, pre-selected by the Soundminds group, which will ultimately form a video loop at future Soundminds events.
