A TANNOCHSIDE teacher has died suddenly at the age of 56.
Keen hillwaker James Connor was out exercising his dog last Thursday night in Glen Mavis, where he lived with his wife Kay and daughter Suzanne, when he collapsed of a suspected heart attack.
Two passers-by rushed to his aid and he was taken to Monklands Hospital but he couldn’t be saved.
Educated at St John’s Primary and Our Lady’s High, James, who is originally from Tannochside, worked as an engineer before deciding at the age of 38 to become a teacher.
His second career started at St Aidan’s High in Wishaw before a short spell at Bellshill Academy led him to the dual role of English and history teacher at Coatbridge High.
His brother Frank said: “It has been such a shock to the whole family.”
