THE operations committee of Strathclyde Partnership for Transport’s (SPT) has agreed to amend subsided bus contracts serving Motherwell and Bellshill.
On services 365, 366 and 367 (Harthill - Wishaw Hospital – Ravenscraig Sports Centre) additional 367 Sunday journeys between Wishaw and Shotts will be added to replace those between Newmains Cross and Shotts being withdrawn on September 23.
The vehicle for the additional journeys will be provided by First Glasgow at a cost of £12,480 per annum which increases the contract from £188,928 to £201,408.
On services M1, 230 and 299 (East Kilbride – Hairmyres/ Hamilton – Coatshill/Strathclyde Business Park- Bellshill Station) the route and timetable of the 230 will be revised to plug a gap created by changes to service 229.
These changes, by operator First Glasgow, will come into effect on Monday (September 17) and there will be no financial implications.

Meanwhile, First Glasgow is holding passenger safety month throughout September to help prevent any incidents on board its buses.
First staff will be wearing promotional t-shirts and hi-visibility vests displaying key safety messages such as: ‘hold the handrails when getting on and off the bus’, ‘remain seated until the bus has stopped’ and ‘inform the driver if you have any mobility issues’.
