CATHOLIC schools across Lanarkshire celebrated the launch of This is Our Faith syllabus at a prayer service in Our Lady of Good Aid Cathedral, Motherwell.

Church members and representatives from the education sector, civic and community leaders and politicians along with primary and secondary school children from across the Diocese, packed the Cathedral for the celebration.

This is Our Faith was designed to meet the needs of young people in Catholic primary and secondary schools across Scotland.

The syllabus, the first to be wholly originated in the country, has received the Vatican seal of approval as it was granted the Decree of Recognition.

Bishop Joseph Devine, who presented each school with a copy of the new teaching document, said: “It will provide the basis for RE teaching in Scottish Catholic schools for decades to come.”
