THE chief executive of North Lanarkshire Council has been given the royal seal of approval after being awarded a CBE in this year’s Queen’s Birthday Honours List.
Gavin Whitefield will receive the award in recognition of the contribution he has made to local government.
He said: “Over the last 35 years I have been very privileged to have worked in a number of different roles in local government along with many exceptional people. It is therefore extremely humbling to be honoured in this way.
“I am also immensely proud of the progress made by North Lanarkshire Council over the years, which reflects the tremendous commitment of our workforce and elected members.”
