STAFF and pupils at Firpark Secondary School gathered for a prize giving at Motherwell South Parish Church.

They were warmly welcomed by the parishioners, with the service being conducted by chaplains the Rev Georgie Baxendale and Canon Joseph Clements.

Dorothy O’Neill played the piano and the choir sang ‘O When The Saints Go Marching In’.

A cheque for £590 was presented by pupils Mary Sweeney, Raymond Walker, Shaun Burke, Steven Murray and David Heitman to Raymond Lunny, local Christian Aid representative.

Headteacher John Morley spoke of his first months at Firpark Secondary and wished the school leavers well.

School captains Leona Fleming and Ross Johnson gratefully received a donation to the school from the church’s Chix with Stix group.
