CHILDREN in Uddingston and Bothwell attended a special event to ensure that everything runs smoothly when they start primary school in August.
The transition day was held at Bothwell Castle, and around 160 kids from Muiredge, St Bride’s, Treehouse, Sunshine and Bothwell Montessori nurseries enjoyed a day of fun and games.
The innovative day was devised by South Lanarkshire Council for kids who attend nurseries in the Uddingston and Bothwell areas to allow them to meet their classmates and get ready to start a new era of their education at St Bride’s, Bothwell, St John the Baptist and Muiredge primaries.
A variety of agencies were involved in the day including South Lanarkshire Rangers, the Early Years Team, Uddingston Pride, Brighter Bothwell and the Forestry Commission.
The youngsters got a chance to try out all sorts of activities at the event including exploring Bothwell Castle, learning about local fauna, making scarecrows and wooden necklaces, races, tug-of-war and parachute games.
To end the day all the nurseries gathered together to enjoy a picnic.
