Police hunt cash delivery robbers

POLICE are hunting three thugs who robbed a security guard as he made a cash delivery in Tannochside.

Three men armed with a knife and baseball bat threatened the 53-year-old as he visited Kwik Fit Financial Services on Masterton Way.

The incident unfolded around 2.10pm on Thursday, with the men demanding the victim hand over the cash.

They made off in a white vehicle towards Blantyre Farm Road with a four-figure sum of money, leaving the man badly shaken by the ordeal.

The suspects are described as being aged between 20 and 30 and wearing scarves over their faces.

Detective Chief Inspector Pat Campbell of Motherwell CID said: “This was a terrifying experience for the security guard involved, who thankfully was not injured in the incident, however, the outcome could have been very different.

“I would like to trace anyone who witnessed three men in a white saloon, four-door car, acting suspiciously near to Kwik Fit just prior to the incident taking place.

“Similarly, I would like to speak to anyone who was in the vicinity of Blantyre Farm Road and witnessed a white car driving erratically and at speed.

“It is imperative we trace these violent individuals. I would urge anyone with information, however insignificant that information may seem, to contact police on 483000 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
