A thought-provoking play on safety in the home is to headline a special event for older people in Motherwell next week.
The Living Safely event runs at Motherwell Civic Centre on Tuesday from 9.45am to 1.45pm and will feature the play Home Sweet Home.
Produced by the award-winning Kickstart Theatre Company, the production focuses on topics such as slips, trips and falls in the home, fire safety and bogus callers. And the drama’s general themes are to set a fitting focal point to the interactive event.
The day has been organised by the Voice of Experience Forum as part of their work in the Reshaping Care for Older People (RCOP) programme.
A key goal of RCOP is to help growing numbers of people over 65 continue to live full, positive and independent lives in the community. Issues to be tackled on the day will range from accidents in the home, bogus callers to financial harm.
VoEF organiser Sandra Comrie said: “Ultimately our aim is to equip people with the knowledge and understanding of things that can keep them safe. Feeling safe within the community has a direct impact on an older person’s confidence.”
