THE history of a Motherwell school which was recently demolished has been documented in a new book.

Dalziel Public School and Schoolhouse: A Brief History 1885-1912 has been published by the Lanarkshire Family History Society, which is a registered Scottish charity, following the demolition of the original building back in March.

The book has been two years in the making and came about because the Society are actually based in what was originally the headmaster’s house and latterly the janitor’s home in Crosshill Street.
