Motorists and business owners in Bellshill are being reminded of parking restrictions on Main Street, following a string of complaints made to the police.
Area Inspector Billy Jeffrey contacted the Speaker to highlight problems with parking along the busy road.
He said: “We are appealing for the assistance and co-operation of the general public and local businesses when utilising the ‘restricted’ parking areas situated on the Main Street.
“We have received several complaints regarding vehicles being left unattended for lengthy periods of time outside the shops on the Main Street in direct contravention of the local parking restrictions.
“Local officers together with assistance from their colleagues in the Roads Policing department will be looking to routinely patrol the area and take robust action when offences are detected.
“We are not looking to deter the legitimate use of the parking spaces provided, however I would appeal to the general public and local businesses to abide by the restrictions that are in place.”
