Local councillors cut the ribbon to mark the re-opening in October 1999 of the historic David Livingstone Bridge linking Bothwell with Blantyre.

Performing the ceremony are, left to right, Uddingston South and Bothwell’s John Ormiston, Bothwell South councillor Alex McGuire and Blantye member Jim Handibode. Behind are South Lanarkshire Council officials and members of Uddingston Strathclyde Pipe Band who led the way across the £500,000 footbridge.
