North Lanarkshire Trade Union Council (NLTUC) has organised a public meeting to discuss the Government’s welfare reforms, including the controversial bedroom tax, at the GLO Centre in Motherwell on Sunday, May 19.

The meeting, part of the A Fair and Just Society for All campaign, will run from 6.30-9pm and speakers include the Rev Derek Pope of Lanarkshire Forum for Social and Economic Justice, Amanda Gallagher of North Lanarkshire Council, Jack Ferguson of trade union Unite as well as a representative of the Govan Law Centre.

NLTUC secretary Gillian Jones said: “Our campaign is about and for the ordinary citizen, we reject the divisions being created by word and deed. This is about all of us needing, deserving and living in a fair and just society and looking for solutions in opposition to these draconian measures.”
