Motherwell X-Factor sensation Nicholas McDonald says he hopes he’s still on the show for his 17th birthday on November 30.
His comment to thousands of Twitter followers came after another flawless performance on Saturday, when he thrilled the show’s judges with his performance of Dream a Little Dream.
But the sudden departure of singer Abi Alton in the Sunday eviction round was yet another reminder - ‘though none was needed - that every show is vital.
This week’s theme - “The Great British Songbook” - will hold no terrors for Nicholas, who has now proved he can span every genre from “lounge lizard” to Jackson.
But he needs every vote he can muster as the competition gets progressively more deadly.
Meanwhile he is gearing up for the X-Factor tour, and more immediately this week’s appearance at Hampden Park - where he will sing Flower of Scotland at the Scotland v USA friendly.
Unabashed by this week’s knockabout fun on TV - where he managed the difficult feat of balancing on a pair of extra-high high heels - he says he used to be able to sing a word-perfect version of Celine Dion’s “Miracle”.
And while mum Eileen is possibly Celine’s biggest fan Nicholas is clearly in awe of meeting her in person himself when she appears on the show on Saturday.
