The Memorial Chapel at Our Lady’s High has new painted windows, courtesy of first and second year pupils in the art department.

The idea for the windows came from school chaplain Fr Frank King, who thought the wire framed safety glass originally in the doors made the entrance to the chapel look drab.

The art department was called in and all S1 pupils last year had a shot at creating an original piece of artwork. Fr King requested the Annunciation be used as inspiration for the design so the designs were based on some famous paintings of the Annunciation combined with ethnic art.

Winner of the competition was Nicole Meechan whose design is now featured on the glass and her classmates in 2P3 all helped to paint various parts of the windows with speciality glass paints.
