A group of parents from Muirhouse Primary joined learners who are working on their Discovery Award to complete a ten-week first aid course.

The course was organised by North Lanarkshire Council’s Community Learning & Development department and delivered by Dolly Pickard from Coatbridge College.

The group passed three assessments to successfully gain an Intermediate 2 First Aid qualification.

Emma Deans, Community Learning & Development worker (schools), said: “The group have worked extremely hard over the past few months, but their hard work has paid off and I hope they all celebrate gaining their qualification with their families.”

The group are currently working on a maths for parents course which builds confidence around the way maths is currently taught in primary schools.

This is to enable parents to feel equipped with the skills necessary to help their children doing their homework.

Community Learning and Development also offer a range of family learning activities with topics including arts, music, environment, health and reading.
