NHS Lanarkshire volunteers from Motherwell have been recognised at an awards ceremony hosted by Supercounty and the health board in Hamilton.

Ken Corsar, chairman of NHS Lanarkshire, said: “It is a privilege and an honour to acknowledge the sterling work which is undertaken on a daily basis.

“Each volunteer provides a valued service within our hospitals and local communities. The commitment and dedication has not gone unnoticed by the patients and staff.

“Volunteers take on a range of roles and over the last year we have had a considerable expansion in volunteering.

“There are more than 50 different volunteering roles available with more than 450 volunteers currently giving their time.”

Special recognition was given to three volunteers from Motherwell, including Bill Cloughley who gives up his time to work within paediatrics at Wishaw General.
