HELPING people achieve ‘A Healthier Future’ is the aim of NHS Lanarkshire’s new strategic planning framework which will be used to test the provision of all future health services.

Acting chief executive Ian Ross said: “We want to help people to live longer, healthier lives and part of achieving this will be through working closely with our partner services and reviewing and delivering quality services that are safer, more person-centred and more effective.

“A Healthier Future has been developed through listening to public representatives, staff and our partner organisations to identify how we can make a difference to people’s lives now and in the future.

“One example of this is that we know people want to stay in their own home and only go to hospital when absolutely necessary. To achieve this we are developing more community based services to provide the support people need to stay healthy at home.

“A Healthier Future, however, is not just about developing services, it also reflects our ambition to continuously improve the quality of care. Working with the public and our staff we want to make our services even better than they are already.

“Over the next few months we will be working with our staff to take forward our individual and collective approach to developing NHS Lanarkshire into the kind of place we all want it to be and which embeds our values of fairness, respect, working together and quality.
