The festival run from 10am until 4pm. The exhibits are stunning, and the £5 entry covers a cup of tea or coffee and home baking, while you have the chance to watch photos of the decades of life in the Clyde Valley passing on a huge screen - maybe pick out someone you know!

This weekend sees Doors Open Day, and taking part this year is Lanark Fire Station, which will be open today from 10am until 2pm – barring fires!

New Lanark is also taking part, with lots of free activities for families including craft workshops to allow visitors to print wallpaper.

Biggar’s new museum is open, so if you have not checked out the Biggar and Upper Clydesdale Museum today would be a good time to start.

And while in Biggar, call in at Brownsbank Cottage, the former home of poet Hugh MacDiarmid.

Leadhills Miners Library, the oldest lending library in the UK, is also taking part, as are Douglas Heritage Museum, and Crawfordjohn Heritage Centre.
