Warning after drug theft in Bothwell
MEDICATION stolen from a doctor’s bag in Bothwell could prove fatal, police have warned.
A quantity of drugs, including intravenous pethidine and morphine sulphate, were in a bag stolen from the boot of a blue BMW on Grieve Court.
The doctor discovered the theft around 6.15pm on Friday and contacted police.
The bag was recovered a short time later on the nearby bridge at Clyde Terrace, however some medication was missing.
Officers are warning the public not to take any of the drugs.
Detective Inspector Una Maider said: “Many of the drugs stolen from the doctor’s bag can prove fatal if not taken under medical supervision and I would warn anyone who has any of this medication not to take it.
“I would like to appeal to anyone who was in Grieve Croft around 6pm on Friday and saw anyone acting suspicious or hanging around the area or saw anyone with a blue doctor’s bag near to Clyde Terrace to contact officers as soon as possible.”
Information should be reported to Hamilton CID on 01698 483300 or Crimestoppers free and confidentially on 0800 555 111.
