Undercover cops bought drugs at railway station

BELLSHILL’s railway station has been revealed as a hot spot for drug dealing in the town.

Hamilton Sheriff Court heard last week that police officers bought heroin there during an undercover operation.

The steps leading from the platform to the car park in Neilson Street are popular with dealers because there are no CCTV cameras to catch them.

Robert Steele (41) and Leeanne Fagan (31), both prisoners, were jailed after they admitted supplying heroin to an officer known only as Davie.

The court heard 11 people were arrested in April after a police operation to crack down on drug dealing in Bellshill town centre.

Sheriff David Bicket jailed Steele for 10 months and Fagan for eight months.

Full story in this week’s Bellshill Speaker and Motherwell Times, out on Wednesday.
