Bothwell Primary said farewell to two long serving members of staff when the school broke up for the summer holiday.

Fiona Scott and Anne Thistlethwaite were honoured at a special assembly last week where they were presented with flowers from pupils and staff and a commemorative quaich by the Parent Council.

Fiona from Bellshill joined the school in 1990 and had most recently been teaching the P7s, while Anne from Strathaven arrived in 1993 and spent most of her career teaching the P1s, although did also enjoy a spell as a principal teacher.

However, with both having had their 60th birthday it was time to start enjoying their retirement.

Head teacher Paula Ross said: “Both Fiona and Anne were great teachers and they will certainly be missed by everyone at the school.

“They taught generations of the village’s children during their time with us and no doubt have left some very big shoes to fill.”
