A new campaign by Trading Standards to rid Scotland of rogue traders is being supported by North Lanarkshire Council.
It is hoped that the campaign will send out the message that rogue traders are criminals. They delibertely target elderly and vulnerable people, persuading them that they need unnesessary work done to their homes and charge outrageous amounts of money.
Councillor Helen McKenna, convener of North Lanarkshire Council’s Environmental Services Committee, said: “If our officers know about these crimes we can investigate and bring the people responsible to justice. Often victimes don’t report the incidents because they may be embartrassed or not know who to contact.”
