Son blew up parents’ kitchen in police siege
THREE police officers were hurt when a man blew up his parents’ kitchen during a stand-off in Viewpark.
Lee Gallagher had turned on the gas and doused the floor with petrol after barricading himself in.
He then begged for help and was dragged from the blazing kitchen by the same officers who had been thrown off their feet by the blast.
Gallagher (31), a prisoner, appeared at Hamilton Sheriff Court last week and admitted causing the explosion in Beechgrove Avenue, Viewpark, on September 28.
The officers were taken to hospital but allowed home after treatment for minor injuries. Gallagher suffered burns to his arms.
Sentence was deferred until next month for background reports and he was remanded in custody.
